Diagnose Tree
Follow a short, safety-first investigation. Choose “I don’t know / can’t check” instead of guessing or attempting hazardous work.
Step 1
Is the chiller stopped with readings available without live or refrigerant work?
A decision tree narrows an investigation
These starter investigations begin with safe access because an alarm does not prove that equipment is isolated. They use observations and recorded readings to distinguish likely cooling, lubrication, water-flow, instrumentation and feedwater issues. The final cause is a leading possibility, not confirmation. Use the confirming test with qualified personnel and the exact equipment manual.
Compressor high temperature may arise from cooler restrictions, ventilation, lubrication, or sensor faults. Chiller head pressure depends on condenser-water conditions and the refrigerant circuit. The illustrative approach threshold is a prompt to investigate, not a universal limit. Select the unknown branch when the instrument or OEM threshold is unavailable.
A boiler low-water trip is fundamentally different from an ordinary resettable alarm. Firing must remain disabled until the condition has been assessed. Introducing water into a potentially overheated boiler can be dangerous. The tree therefore directs unresolved or unsafe conditions to specialist control rather than an automatic restart instruction.
The Back option changes your investigation path without requiring new measurements. End-result counts are aggregated without your identity, so the owner can see which guidance is most frequently reached. The counts describe navigation, not confirmed failure statistics.
Guidance only. Follow manufacturer limits and site procedures; hazardous work requires qualified personnel.
